The journey takes around an hour and is one of the most enjoyable rides into the vehicle-free green hill station. Bookings usually start 45 minutes before the train leaves and it can get full pretty quickly on weekends. So book early if you can.

The Central Railway will run five trains daily between Neral and Matheran from December 6th. The trains will leave Neral at 7:20 am, 9:00 am, 10:45 am, 12:10 am and 5:00 pm. The trains will leave Matheran at 5:45 am, 9:50 am, 1:00 pm, 2:35 pm and 4:10 pm.
