Mumbai: The MSRTC plans to introduce a novel concept of “airconditioned semi-luxury” buses in the state and the vehicles are likely to hit city roads in two months.

MSRTC PRO said so far, buses were either AC- like Shivneri Volvos plying between Mumbai to Pune – or semi-luxury. “We now plan to amalgamate the two to create a new brand of bus, which will be affordable by the middle-class,” he said

 

MSRTC managing director or Deepak Kapoor – the project is his brainchild – has asked Automobile Corporation of Goa Ltd to manufacture the vehicles. “The buses will initially run on trail from Mumbai to Pune. We will gradually introduce it in other sectors,” Kapoor said. The tickets will be less expensive than that of AC Volvos, but slightly higher than that of a semi-luxury bus.
