1st J&K train on Oct. 11

Srinagar : The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, inaugurated the first ever train service in Kashmir Valley at Nowgam in Srinagar.

The trains will run from Rajwansher in central Budgam to Anantnag in the south, covering 66km. The fare will be Rs 15. The regular service of the train will commence from October 12. There will be 8 coaches in the train.

The service will have stations at Budgam, Srinagar, Pampore, Kakapora, Awantipora, Panjgam, Bijbehara.

This is part of the prestigious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project.
