Kolanpak Jain Temple
Posted on Friday, June 19 @ 03:26:45 EDT by Mysterindia

India Places mysterindia writes "

Hyderabad : The Swethambar Jain Thirth Kolanpak Committee is set to open the 2,500-year-old Jain temple at Kolanpak in Nalgonda district. The temple was excavated by Shantishree guruji 100 years ago. Even though it was renovated then, it was not complete. The renovation is complete now and will be open for pilgrims.

The temple was being renovated since 20 years and over 1,000 artisans, stone cutters and other workers were involved in the work. The Jain committee has spent around Rs 9 crore on renovation.

It is one of the top 10 pilgrimage sites for Jains in the world. The main attraction of the temple is the Chowmukha idol and other idols which are very rare. More than 10,000 people from all over the world are set to witness the inauguration.

Jains believe that 15 visits of Kulpak Tirth on full moon days and performing seva, tapa and japa will end all their troubles in life. “The Lord’s meditation helps a lot. Its effects are wonderful and people experience peace and happiness. People from all over India and the world visit the temple for meditation and puja. The temple is mentioned in Jain books but the place was not known. Hundred years ago the temple was excavated by Shantishree guruji. The money for renovation was donated by Jain trusts in Gujarat and Rajasthan. We also received a lot of donation for the renovation,” said Mr Surender Luniya, president of Sri Shwethambar Jain Thirth Kolanpak. The inauguration function will begin from December 3 and will go on till December 8. The home minister, Mr K. Jana Reddy, will inaugurate the water purifying plant, donated by one of the trustees, in Kolanpak village. The temple is constructed on 1 acre of land. The remaining eight acres house, a dharamshala, guest houses, museum and Jain library for visitors.
