Fog vision device to aid railway drivers
Posted on Thursday, April 16 @ 04:10:51 EDT by Mysterindia

Indian Railways mysterindia writes "
Kanpur : Trains running late due to fog and bad weather are set to become a thing of past.Scientists at the Indian Institute of Technology,Kanpur (IIT-K), in collaboration with the Research Development and Standard Organisation (RDSO),have developed a fog vision instrumentation device which would enable train drivers to see through the fog for uninterrupted and safe operation.

The scientist have developed techniques for improved visibility and in-cab signalling in fog, night and bad weather conditions.Developed under the Railway Technology Mission Project and funded by the Union human resources development ministry, the device-a laser-based radar-has already been placed for experiment under the current foggy conditions, and, in all likelihood, would be launched by the next season.
