For the first time, you will get a refund on the cancellation of a confirmed ticket booked under the tatkal scheme.This was recently announced by the Railway Board.

The 25 per cent refund, excluding the tatkal charges (Rs 300), will be paid if the ticket is presented 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train.
