Hyderabad : Lufthansa has announced the launch of its daily flights between Hyderabad and Frankfurt starting on Sunday. "The daily service between Hyderabad and Frankfurt offers enhanced connectivity to Europe and US and provides customers with more options and flexibility in their travel plans," said Werner Heesen of Lufthansa German Airlines here Thursday.

The airline has been operating three flights a week on this route since February last year.

With the launch of the daily service, the total number of lights operated by Lufthansa between India and Germany will increase to 42.

Lufthansa has daily flights between Frankfurt and cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore, besides a Munich-Delhi flight.

Hyderabad is the airlines' fifth destination in India.

Heesen, the general manager passenger sales India and director South Asia of the airline, told a news conference that the airlines was accelerating its growth in India. The airlines, which had 23 flights in 2002, plans to double them by 2007.

Though the airlines launched its services in India in 1959 by connecting Frankfurt and Kolkata, the flight was later discontinued due to low demand.

To celebrate the launch of daily flights from the city, Lufthansa has announced special fares on the sector, for which passengers can book tickets until April 30. They can travel to Europe including Germany and Britain at Rs.19,900 while the flights to Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco will cost Rs.38,000.

"The high seat load factor on this route has been the key reason for us to more than double our capacity in this sector. Being the cyber city and the biotech hub of India, Hyderabad is a growing business centre," Heesen added.

The flight from Hyderabad departs at 01.05 a.m. and lands at 07.30 a.m. in Frankfurt, providing connecting flights to 85 other destinations in Europe and 18 in North America.

Heesen said the airlines on this sector introduced 'FlyNet', a facility that enables passengers to access high speed wireless internet while flying 32,000 ft above sea level. It has also introduced new business class seats named 'Private Bed', the longest full flat business class bed worldwide.
