Kochi : Low cost carrier Air Deccan will soon commence two services connecting Delhi and Mumbai from Thiruvananthapuram from April 23 and will setting up its seventh base in the country in the Kerala capital.

An Air Deccan press release, quoting its Managing Director, Captain Gopinath said there was lot of demand from "our passengers for flights to Thiruvananthapuram which has been till now been serviced only by traditional full service airlines." There was lot of traffic in Thiruvananthapuram, especially international travellers who require low cost air connectivity, he said.

The carrier already has bases at Delhi,Mumbai,Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai, the release said.

From April 23, Air Deccan will start services on two sectors-- Thiruvananthapurma-Delhi via Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram-Mumbai via Kochi flghts. Air Deccan would also take delivery of a new Airbus A-320 on April 3 and it would be based at Thiruvananthapuram.

The state capital is already connected by Air Deccan to Chennai and Bangalore with daily flights. Kochi and Kozhikode are the other cities in Kerala which are connected by the airline.
