New Delhi : Getting Shorthaul passengers back in planes from Shatabdis and deluxe coaches seems to be the clear aim for airlines as they finally start cutting their exorbitant fares. While Kingfisher and Air India (domestic) are yet to announce cuts, Jet’s lower fares that have come into effect recently are clearly indicative of this. Shorthaul routes – where people have attractive surface transport options – have seen the maximum cut.

Mumbai: Flying from Mumbai is set to become more expensive with an airport development fee of Rs 100 for domestic departures and Rs 600 for international flights coming into effect from April 1. If you happen to be a frequent flier on the Mumbai-Delhi route, then the pinch will felt from March 1 itself when taking off from Delhi will entail an extra payment of Rs 200 for domestic passengers and Rs 1,300 for international passengers.

New Delhi: Air travel may soon get more expensive as jet fuel prices went up again on Wednesday – third time in a month The latest 6.7 % hike (an average of Rs 2,100 per kilolitre) means that aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has become almost 18 % more expensive in past one month. The only reason airlines are ‘studying’ the impact and not announcing a fare hike is that planes are flying just over half full at current fare levels. Any hike may make the situation even more grim for them.

Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, today launched its daily, direct service to Kuwait from Mumbai.

This is the airline’s second daily service to Kuwait from India, complementing the airline’s existing Kochi-Kuwait service.

New Delhi : Poor passenger load factors in the past few months have once again forced low cost carriers (LCCs) to come out with limited period special fares offers to woo back passengers. While January 2009 saw a 14.2% decline in domestic traffic over last year despite reduced fares, the February figures – when fares went up – are feared to be worse.

New Delhi: The joy of flying on cheap tickets has lasted exactly 40 days. Appearing to act as a cartel, domestic airlines have simultaneously withdrawn low fares – reintroduced from January 1 after months of declining jet fuel prices – and now offer only higher fare tickets. On some routes, fares have even been hiked.

Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, on April 23 launched its inaugural daily service to Dubai from Chennai with a full complement of passengers, as well as a second service on the Mumbai-Dubai sector.

The launch of the airline's first Chennai-Dubai service was marked by a small lamp-lighting ceremony in the presence of company officials at the Chennai International Airport.

These cities will be Jet Airways' seventh and eighth destinations respectively in the airline's growing Gulf network.
