New Delhi : Passengers at Leh airport-one of the world’s highest airfields at 10,682 feet above sea level-will soon be basking in the warmth of solar air-conditioning. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is going to install solar panels on the roof of the new terminal that will be used to generate about 100 kilowatt and use that to heat up water.

A fresh request from the central government to shift two or three prides of lions from the Gir national park and sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh has been turned down by the Gujarat government. Though the state has not sent across a formal reply to the request which came in mid-July, there is complete consensus in Gujarat that the state should remain the only habitat of the Asiatic lions in the wild.
