Lucknow : The Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), the R&D wing of the Indian Railways, is looking at ways to make long-distance travel safer. The Lucknow-based organization is exploring the possibility of installing wireless cameras on-board trains which would record and transmit any untoward incident in the coach to the guard who can then take the necessary steps.

: The ambitious Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) plan is finally ready to take off. According to railway officials, passengers can order the menu of their choice while booking their ticket online. This can be later confirmed by sitting on the train and dialing a number.

Mangalore: Incessant rain in and aroud Mangalore since last Friday night has crippled train services on the Konkan Railway route. A mudside at Kulshekar near Mangalore junction (Kankanady) station made matters worse on last Saturday.

 

 

Special Sports-Cyber Will Enter City In Spetember

 

Mumbai: In a run-up to the Commonwealth Games (CWG), the railways will run an exhibition train featuring the sports and information technology (IT) of the country with a focus on the railways’ contribution. Incidentally, this is the first train of its kind.

 

The 11-coach train will start from Delhi on June 24 tour the length and breath of India and return to the capital on October 2. It will stop over at CST between September 11 and 13. “This is a symbolic gesture of spreading the ethos of the games through the synergy between railways and sports and shared values,” said chief PRO, Central railway (CR), S C Mudgerikar.
