LUCKNOW : The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to give its nod to the mega Integrated Rail-cum-Bus Transit Project (IRBTP) for National Capital Region (NCR) to connect Delhi with neighbouring cities of the State.

             

              THE Mumbai Central-New Delhi Rajdhani Express will halt at Surat station from December 18 on an experimental basis for six months.

              Accordingly, 2951 Dn Mumbai Central-New Delhi Rajdhani Express will reach Surat station at 8.30 pm and depart from there at 8.05 pm for New Delhi.

             

For the first time, you will get a refund on the cancellation of a confirmed ticket booked under the tatkal scheme.This was recently announced by the Railway Board.

Vadodara : Here is a train that is slower than a moped.You will never find anyone rushing to catch the narrow gauge Pratapnagar-Jambusar passenger train, for its top speed is a mere 12 kmph.It is arguably the slowest train in the plains of India, chugging to cover 44 km in over three-and-a-half hours.A two-wheeler covers the distance in an hour.No wonder not many travel by it.

         

New Delhi : To improve the occupancy of higher classes in trains, a scheme of freqent travellers (SOFT) is being launched that would be applicable yo first AC, second AC,and AC chaircar classes ,minister of state for railways R Velu infomed the Rajya Sabha on Friday.
   

Mumbai : You can travel by train in India and still remain connected with some long-distance trains set to get Wi-Fi connectivity.

Premier trains like the Rajdhani Express and the Shatabdi Express and even the Jan Shatabdi Express will be the first ones to be provided with the facility, officials of the Mumbai-headquartered Western Railway said.

Jaipur : Thar Express is likely to restart its run by mid-February after the train's movement between India and Pakistan was disrupted since August due to rain waterlogging in Barmer district, a top railway official said today.

The water level receded from 10 feet to just 45 cm and it would get cleared by the first week of February, General Manager of North-West zone, S B Bhattacharya, told PTI here.

Jaipur : Newly weds and diplomats will enjoy discounts and special hospitality aboard the Heritage on Wheels, a luxury tourist train.

Tickets for the train, run jointly by Indian Railways and the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC), will come with a 10 percent concession for newly weds. The couples will also get special hospitality, said officials here.

Allahabad : Railways have decided to run more than 450 special trains in view of the heavy rush of pilgrims during the Ardh Kumbh here.

"A total of 286 special trains would be running in the north central railway (NCR) zone, 66 in the northern zone and 103 in north-eastern zone," NCR General Manager Budh Prakash told reporters here.

New Delhi : Close on the heels of reaching out to over 1.5 lakh Bank ATMs to sell railway tickets, Indian Railways is now approaching manufacturers of branded food and beverages to offer a variety of cuisines at stations across the country.

The effort is part of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad's announcement while presenting the Rail Budget 2006-07 to provide better amenities to its customers, Railway Ministry sources told PTI.
